caregiver support

For 12 years I cared for my husband through 4 brain surgeries, strokes and declining abilities.  He was often confused, had a personality change and was confined to a wheelchair. The partnership we had turned into my needing to be a caregiver instead of a partner or wife.  I found it isolating and became increasingly isolated.  I learned many things in this process and after he passed away, information I wish I had along my journey.  I would love the opportunity to be a support counselor and guide for anyone who is a half to full time caregiver.

So many things are necessary when you are a caregiver, things such as what equipment is best, what you don’t need, and where to find lower cost equipment. Also, being able to talk on the days you feel like running away, is incredibly important. Learning how to lower your stress, find inexpensive help, and what types of physicians might be most helpful can also done better with another person.

Listening is a magnetic and strange thing, a creative force….When we are listened to, it creates us, makes us unfold and expand.
